Photography has been part of me all my life - it started with taking a high school photo class in the mid 80's, back then using a 35mm film camera (Canon A1) mostly shooting black and white, developing the film/negatives and large size prints in the darkroom myself.
The advent of digital cameras significantly changed the volume of photos I started taking - and deleting :) - typically the ratio of good to bad for a professional photographer is about 1 good one for every 30 that "don't make it!"
I traditionally don't post process my photos, unless requested - I believe the art of photography is to capture the emotions and atmosphere of the moment, with my camera not creating or recreating it artificially on the computer.
Beauty is not always total perfection but small imperfections that provide a reference point, making it real.
The key is, no matter what camera you use or gear you have to shoot, to be there and take that shot to capture that moment and to tell the story - nothing else really matters.
